Samson et Dalila , Grange Park Opera -  The High Priest of Dagon

"...Michel de Souza (the High Priest of Dagon) made the most of the glorious lyricism of Saint-Saëns’ settings; de Souza also impressed in his exchanges with Dalila in Act II."

David Karlin,  Bachtrack, June 2015

"Musically, there are worthwhile performances from  Nicholas Fowell as the vicious Abimélech and Michel de Souza as the genocidal high priest."

George Hall, The Guardian , June 2015

"Michel de Souza made a suave High Priest of Dagon, siging with a nice sence of style and a feel of constant present Danger."

Turandot, Royal Opera House - Mandarin

"Credit must also be given to Michel de Souza’s very finely sung Mandarin. An attractive baritone voice that promises much, he is another Jette Parker Young Artist who is well worth watching to see how he progresses."

Jette Parker Young Artists Showcase, Royal Opera House

Turning now to the 2012 intake, the most exciting prospect I felt was the baritone, Michel de Souza. He made an outstanding Papageno in the first excerpt (which was conducted by Paul Wingfield who was also given the chance to display his skills in the overture from Die Zauberflöte.) Mr de Souza has already completed Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists’ Programme, and it shows. He offers superb projection and excellent diction as well as an energetic and engaging stage presence. He is most definitely “one to watch.”

Miranda Jackson, Opera Britannia, July 2013

Tosca, Royal Opera House - Angelotti

Michel de Souza’s Angelotti was strongly sung and well acted.

The cunning little Vixen, Glasgow - Forester

The Forester I saw, Michel de Souza, was a fine, warm-toned, eloquent portrayal of the role.

Seen on its second night in Glasgow, the night belonged to Michel de Souza, Scottish Opera Emerging Artist who sang a wonderful Forester,
